Newborn Photography Mentoring Private 1:1 mentoring takes place at the Kelly Saxon Photography studio in Christiana, Tennessee, just outside Murfreesboro. Studio Location: 1609 Ansley Kay Drive Christiana, TN Each mentoring experience is designed for photographers who want to improve their newborn posing, lighting, session flow, client experience and overall confidence behind the camera. Choose the mentoring option that best fits how you learn and what you want to take away from the experience.
- Simple Mentoring
- 2 Days | $1,000
- 9:00 AM–2:00 PM each day
- This observational mentoring experience is ideal for photographers who want to watch complete newborn sessions from beginning to end.
- Includes:
One full newborn session each day
Newborn session flow and posing transitions
Camera angles and composition
Studio lighting
Camera settings, exposure and white balance
Soothing techniques and working with newborns
Client communication
Parent preparation
Business workflow and general photography business guidance
- This option is observation only and is not hands-on.
- Personal cameras are not used during this mentoring experience.
- Classic Mentoring
- 2 Days | $1,600
- 9:00 AM–2:00 PM each day
- This hands-on mentoring experience gives you the opportunity to work directly with newborn posing under Kelly's guidance.
- Includes:
One full newborn session each day
Hands-on newborn posing
Safe posing techniques
Pose refinement, hands, fingers and small details
Posing transitions and session flow
Soothing and settling techniques
Camera angles and composition
Studio lighting
Camera settings, exposure and white balance
Creating stronger images straight out of camera
Client communication and preparation
Photography business guidance
- You will work hands-on throughout the sessions, but personal cameras are not used.
- Luxury Mentoring
- 3 Days | $2,300
- 9:00 AM–2:00 PM each day
- This is the most complete mentoring experience and is designed for photographers who want hands-on training, portfolio-building images and editing instruction.
- Days One and Two include:
One full newborn session each day
Hands-on newborn posing
Parent and sibling posing
Safe posing techniques
Session flow and transitions
Soothing and settling newborns
Camera angles and composition
Studio lighting
Camera settings, exposure and white balance
Client communication and preparation
Business workflow and profitability
- You may bring and use your own camera during this mentoring experience and photograph portions of the sessions under guidance.
- Day Three is dedicated to editing.
- We will work through images photographed during the mentoring sessions and cover:
My newborn editing workflow
Photoshop tools and techniques
Skin editing
Color correction
Image cleanup
Final image polishing
Creating a consistent finished gallery
- Images you personally photograph during the Luxury Mentoring experience may be used in your portfolio and on social media with credit to Kelly Saxon Photography.
- Before You Book
- A $150 deposit is required to reserve your mentoring dates.
- The remaining balance is due one week before your scheduled mentoring experience.
- Before attending, you should:
Have a basic understanding of Photoshop
Own and understand your DSLR
Be comfortable shooting in Manual Mode
Understand the basics of aperture, shutter speed and ISO
- For the Luxury Mentoring experience, a 35mm lens or 24–70mm lens is recommended.
- You are welcome to bring a laptop for the editing portion or to download images during your mentoring experience.

- A one-year non-compete agreement is required before attending any mentoring session or workshop. The agreement will be included with your booking information.
