Kelly Saxon Photography believes that your memories should be displayed on your walls and not forgotten on a disc or thumb drive. What you can expect for me is the service that you deserve, with the art that represents you and your family! This is done with a Pre-Consultaion Session. Before your session, we can chat about what you want from your session. We can discuss what sizes of canvases or prints you might be striving for to be displayed in your home. I can also answer all of your questions or concerns that you might have about your session. My goal is to not only give you beautiful images that you will cherish for a lifetime but also make this whole experience easy and fun!
My goal is to create a relaxed, pressure free environment for you and your family. I want to capture your natural smiles and your families personality. I will be snapping away capturing laughs, smiles and little looks to create a gallery that reflects you and your family.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do newborn sessions take place?
Newborn sessions are scheduled between 7-14 days. This is done for several reasons. Newborns this young are more likely to “curl up” and remain sleepy for the duration of the session. They are much more tolerant of being posed and moved around than a 3 or 4 week old. Almost all of the “sleepy newborn” shots you see here on the website were done with newborns 14 days old or younger. If your baby is older than 2 weeks, don’t worry, we can still capture beautiful photos-it may just take more effort on both ends and we will need to skip some of the poses you see.
How do I book a session when I’m not sure when baby will be born?
Once you pay your session fee, your tentative session is secured on my calendar. We will make tentative plans about 7-14 days after your due date. If your baby arrives on any day besides your due date, let me know as soon as possible (ideally within the first couple of days and absolutely before baby is 7 days) and we will move your session date to fit into that 7-15 day window, if necessary. If you do not contact me within that first week, I cannot guarantee availability before the 2 week mark, so please contact me sooner. I always try to leave availability for my newborns, but I do have other sessions scheduled in advance.
How do I prepare for my newborn session?
Once I receive your session fee, you will be guided to my newborn session questionnaire to fill out. This questionnaire will help me plan the details of your session. I will also send you detailed instructions on how to prepare newborn and family for the session. It is important to follow these instructions as closely as possible in order for the session to run smoothly.
How long does a session last?
My family or senior session run about 1 hour. Newborn sessions often run long due to the nature and frequent nurturing of the infant, expect a minimum of 2 hours. I do not rush the session, I let baby take as many breaks as needed. Baby’s comfort and safety is my number one priority.
Where is my session going to take place?
Newborn sessions take place in my home studio where you have access to all of my props and beautiful studio lighting. Family Sessions take place at a location of your choice. All outdoor sessions must be within 30 minutes of Gig Harbor.
When is my session fee due?
Most sessions have a non-refundable session fee of $150 and it is required at the time of booking to secure your session. If it is not paid within 24 hrs, your spot will be released.

About 3 weeks following your session, we will meet again to view all of your images for the first time. This is everyone's favorite part! Expect to see several proofs of the images that I captured during your session and a full digital presentation. At this time, I will discuss what I can offer for products ranging from heirloom canvases to metal prints and on down to gift prints to share with friends and family. I will help you select your favorites and suggest wonderful ways to display them in your home. Your art will be ordered within 24hrs of the appointment. Within about 2 weeks, you will be notified that your gallery will be ready for pick-up or delivery.
